REYNANTE CONCEPCION CARANDANG,  Visual Artist from Tuy-Batangas

By Nante Carandang
Tuy-Batangas
April 22, 2015

In 1996, Nante was chosen as one of the finalists in the Metrobank Young Painters Annual Painting Competition. And during college, he worked as a part – time artist at Design Studio in Quirino Taft Ave. Manila and as a resident artist at Elcid Art gallery in Bustillos, Sampaloc Manila owned by the late miniature painting artist Norris Castillo where he has joined numerous group exhibitions together with some senior artists in the art scene.

In 1994, together with his mentor and friend artist Pando Afable, he thought of forming a group of artists in his home town Tuy, Batangas and founded the group Pintor Kulapol Tuy Batangas Artists Group Inc. and since then he and the group was active in many art related activities in their town such as the annual On the spot painting contest for the youth of Tuy and their neighboring towns. They’re also conducting Summer Art Classes for kids and adults to discover new talents and at the same time to promote art appreciation. In 1996, they have mounted their group’s 1st exhibition entitled “ ALAY SINING “ which all the proceeds goes to the construction of their parish church St. Vincent Ferrer in Tuy, Batangas. His group also painted  11 murals  for free that are now mounted in the said parish church.

After college, he worked as a vessel checker in one of the shipping lines in Port area in Manila as his father wanted him to be. And after a year, because he’s not happy with what he was doing in the shipping firm, he quitted and he worked as a Junior artist at the Advertising & Promotion Dept. and as a Display Visual artist of The Landmark Department Store in Makati where he met and got married to Nora Dee and was blessed with two wonderful kids, Felisa 16 and Aron 14.

He also worked as manager trainee at the Visual Merchandising Dept. of Oxygen Apparel under Penshoppe.

His remarkable ability to observe life as he sees it, combining the elements of humor, satire and realism to be able to share his art to his audience made him a realist and a modern impressionist painter which can be seen in his still life and landscape masterpieces. He has joined many group exhibitions in Manila and in his hometown in Tuy, Batangas. He’s currently a active member of VAP ( Visual Artists Of Paranaque ), KUNST Gallery in Batangas City, and also a member of the country’s most respected Art group the AAP ( Art Association of the Philippines ) where he joined its annual painting competitions since he became a member in 1998.

As a full-time artist now, he will create more wonderful obra maestro and do more exhibitions including his first one-man-show later this year.

Nante, as one of the country’s aspiring and upcoming visual artist/painter believes that ART is not primarily made for selling but instead it was created to share its beauty to everyone.
