FCT  Seeks  Candidates  for  2015  Outstanding  Student Awards

The  Filipino  Centre Toronto (FCT)   search   for   Filipino Canadian  Outstanding Students  for 2015   is  now open.  he   annual competition targets  elementary,  high   school   and   post -secondary   graduates of Filipino heritage  residing   in Ontario who have achieved academic excellence and honours in their studies. One or both   parents  or  grandparents  of contestants  must be Filipino or of Filipino descent.  

Qualification  of  Applicants: 1. )   An   elementary   school   applicant   should   have   completed   the   final   year   of   elementary   school   and   entering   high   school ; 2. )   The   high   school   applicant   should   be   accepted   and   going   into   university,   or   community   college, or into  an apprenticeship program.; 3. )  The   post   secondary   applicant  should   have   completed   his  / her   degree   program.      

Academic Marks or Honours : 1) Elementary   and   high   school   applicants   must  have  a  minimum   academic   average  of 85% or  equivalent   during   the   last   two   school   years,   and  must have been  involved   in   extra curricular   and   community   activities. 2)  Post  - secondary  applicants   must have graduated  “With   Distinction   /   High   Honours” or equivalent academic honour.

Documents Required: 1) Elementary   school   graduates  must   submit   original   copies   of   final   report   cards   for   the last   two   years  and   high school   graduates   need   to   submit   a   current   and   original  academic  transcript   bearing   the   school's   official   seal.  2)   Post  - secondary   graduates   must   submit   a   copy   of   their   diploma   with   the   academic   honour   citation   or   transcript   of   academic   record.  3) All   candidates   need   two   original   letters   of   character   references.   One   reference must   be   from   the  school. Immediate   family   is   excluded.  4)  The  completed   Application   Form must include two passport  size   photos.      

Selection and Evaluation Criteria:  Final Evaluation   will   be   based   on  1) scholastic  achievement   (50%),   2) community   involvement  and  extracurricular   activities   (25%)   and  3) interview   (25%).
