UPCOMING CULTURAL EVENTS IN THE NETHERLANDS

To All Our Kababayans,
The Philippine Embassy in The Hague is very pleased to inform you of the following cultural events taking place in September 2015:
1.     Palawan State University Singers’ (PSU) concert

The PSU will hold its first concert in the Netherlands, in cooperation with the United Filipino Dutch Association (UFDA) in Hoofddorp, on Friday, 4 September 2015, 7:00 p.m. at Podiumzaal, Pier K, Raadhuisplein 9, 2132 TZ Hoofddorp.

The PSU is a college-based choir formed in 2012 through the efforts of Mr. Demy R. Dizon as its founding director.  The PSU was one of the country’s representatives at the 33rd Festival Internacional de Musica de Cantonigros held on 16-19 July 2015 in Catalonia, Spain and they won first place!
PSU will also be doing a series of performances in Germany, Spain and France to showcase the musical talent of the Filipinos.

Tickets for the concert cost € 10.00 per person and will be available at the venue with doors opening at 6:00pm. Advance ticket purchase or reservation may be made by contacting Ms. Elma Balmaceda through email at or at telephone numbers 023 562 0200/065 461 7038.

2.     Embassy Festival

The festival will feature music and dance performances by artists coming from different countries.  Several booths of participating embassies, and organizations will display and offer a variety of cultural items and offer food and drinks to the general public.

3.     Philippine Cuisine in the Netherlands

Chefs Amy Besa and Romy Dorotan, owners of the Purple Yam restaurants in Manila and New York, together with three junior chefs, will be in the Netherlands as guest chefs at De Karpendonkse Hoeve Restaurant, a Michelin-star restaurant in Eindhoven, from 7 to 13 September 2015. 

Philippine cuisine will be featured for one week at De Karpendonkse Hoeve. Diners and guests will get to enjoy Filipino food as prepared by these chefs who make use of home-grown, artisanal ingredients from the various regions of the Philippines.

The Embassy encourages all Filipinos in the Netherlands to spread the news and to support these events which will be a good opportunity to promote Philippine culture, talent and cuisine to the Dutch people.
