The Hague Chapter (The Netherlands) Celebrates Rizal day at the Philippine Embassy

By Sir Anton Lutter, KCR
The Hague-The Netherlands
January 9, 2016

The just established Knights of Rizal chapter in The Netherlands celebrated for the first time the Rizal Day ceremony at the Philippines Embassy in The Hague on the 30th of december. Ambassador Sir Jet Ledda was the host of the 119th Anniversary of Martyrdom of Dr. José Rizal.

In his speech “Rizal, Patriot and Cosmopolitan” chapter commander Lutter, emphasized that patriotism and globalization do not have to contradict. Dr. José Rizal has been the living proof of this, having traveled all over Europe, and at the same time never loosing his Philippine identity.

He concluded that the Dutch people can be inspired by the Dr. Rizal in that way:

“We can learn from the Philippine people in being both a patriot and cosmopolitan without loosing our own indentity. This is the true legacy which José Rizal has given to all of us, considering the global challenges of our time. Being confident in our convictions, believe in our own capabilities and opening ones heart to the world around us!”

Sir Anton Lutter, KCR
