OUTSTANDING CANADIANS  AWARDS 2017 NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Since 2000, this will be the fifth time that the Toronto-based  and community - focused organization will be honoring outstanding Canadians, most especially Filipino Canadians.The awards event is an initiative of the 17- year old organization of civic leaders, professionals and community personalities. 

The Outstanding Canadians Foundation, an Ontario-registered non-profit & volunteer-run entity, is being spearheaded  by Ray AlixOCT, a Toronto Catholic secondary school teacher, former Scarborough Ward 14 Alderman( Councillor) candidate in 1982 and founding president of Batangas Provincial Association of Canada . It is Co-chaired by Lorenzo "Jun" Villaruz , an active member and past Grand Knight of the Knights  of Columbus, San Lorenzo Ruiz Council 8809, former Outstanding Canadian awardee and officer of  Philippine Independence Day Council- PIDC. 

There are Twelve Categories of Awards, namely: 1) Citizenship 2) Culture 3) Volunteerism 4) Medicine 5) Health 6) Education 7) Business 8) Heritage 9) Technology 10) Leadership   11) Community Organizations and 12) Special Citations.  A  Board of Judges composed of reputable and prominent community leaders & professionals will select the successful awardees. The awardees will receive a golden medallion, certificates of recognition and the Prime Minister's merit citation.

The awards ceremony will be held on October 7, 2017, Saturday, 8:00 am. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel, Highway 7 &  Leslie Street , Richmond Hill, Markham, Ontario. Special addresses, messages, greetings, entertainment numbers, lunch & coffee, ballroom dancing, fellowship  and networking are included in the day's ceremonies.

Nominations are now being received and the deadline for submission is on July 30, 2017. Any interested individual or organization is encouraged to nominate freely their candidates( friends, colleagues, relatives, officers, civic & business personalities )  to any, or all, of the 12 award categories. Past years honorees are also eligible for nominations this year.
