Most of AFCA's past scholars have been successful in their Accounting career - getting their professional designations and are presently working in senior positions in their place of work.

The Scholarships

AFCA will award two (2) scholarships of $1,500 each to the top two deserving applicants. Both will also be given a certificate and a medal. These awards will be presented at the AFCA 40th Founding Anniversary on May 12, 2018.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants are those who have finished at least two years of university education or one year of college education and are currently enrolled or will be enrolled in the coming school year on a fulltime basis to pursue Accountancy as his/her major. This grant is also available to CPA students, who have completed or been exempted at two modules of the CPA Professional Education Program. As this scholarship is designed to help those who are in financial need, the family income of the student's parents should not be more than $120,000; if he/she has been living alone for more than one year, the applicant's income should not be more than $60,000. If married, the applicant's and her/his spouse's income should not be more than $120,000.

The AFCA Scholarships are presently funded through the various AFCA fundraising efforts. For the long term, AFCA will create the AFCA Scholarship Foundation to establish a self-sustaining fund so AFCA can offer more scholarship assistance to deserving Filipino Canadian accounting students.

The Scholarship Committee also plans to offer scholarships funded by private corporations and individuals, and act as conduit and information source for financial assistance provided by colleges, universities and other funding institutions.

NCPACA Scholarships

Qualified students will also be encouraged to apply for the scholarships offered by the National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants for the School Year 2018-2019. The NCPACA Scholarships provide scholarship awards totalling US$10,000.00, with the top scholar awarded $5,000.00. The awards will be given at the NCPACA National Convention in San Diego, California on September 1, 2018. (*******Fe Paca-Taduran, St. Jamestown News Service*******).
