Renowned artist offers Philippine cultural Christmas workshop

Chicago  -  Avant-garde Filipino-American artist Fred DeAsis offers parol-making (Philippine Christmas lantern) workshop during the 7th Annual Parol Festival on November 18, Sunday from 12 to 4pm at St. Brebeuf Church's Activity Center, 8307 N. Harlem in Niles, Illinois.

The fun-filled family event includes presentation of the history, significance of parol in the Philippine culture, Christmas sing-along, best parol contest and taste of various Filipino foods. Participants bring home their parol.

Bettendorf, IA - The Philippine Dance Troupe of the Quad Cities presents - “A Glimpse of Philippine Culture …a night to remember” at the Grand Ballroom of the Quad Cities Isle Center in Bettendorf on Saturday, September 15, 2012.  The formal fund raising event starts at 5:00 pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the rare art exhibit of renowned Filipino American artist-cultural preservationist Fred DeAsis of Chicago.

The Glimpse event is one of a series of celebrations that focuses on the arts and traditions of culturally diverse local communities. It features cultural extravaganza of Philippine exotic folk dance routines, native songs and fine art.
