A tremendously successful Silver Anniversary of Stichting Kapitbahayan in the Netherlands

Angel Axinto
Spijkenisse, The Netherlands
November 22, 2019

A monumental day for Stichting Kapitbahayan as it commemorates it’s 25 years of community activities. Held last November 16, 2019 at the Wijkcentrum de Akkers in Spijkenisse, it was a real honor to have our best-loved Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Honorable Jaime Ledda as our distinguished guest.

A large number of friends and guests turned out to join Stichting Kapitbahayan as it marks it’s 25 Years Anniversary.

The hall was full of gorgeous ladies with their equally good looking partners, children in their party dresses all smiles and  ready to join the celebration and party the night away!

Upon entering the hall, the huge buffet table awaited the guests. This huge hall was also full with beauty products, facial care, costum jewelries, bags, shoes and Philippine dry goods.

Guests were treated to a palatable dinner.

Ready to blast the jubilation is Wicky’s One-Man-Band and DJ Gie  of the Kababayan Sound & Light Rental. As soon as Wicky hits the keyboard and started to sing, everybody just hit the dancefloor, moving that body and feet to the power of the rhythm. He knows exactly how to please the dancing crowd, they could not get enough of him and his music. Wicky Reidinga rocks !!!

Stichting Kapitbahayan  has been active for 25 years and counting. It’s main goal is to preserve and promote our Philippine cultures and traditions in the Netherlands. Whenever devastating calamities back home occur, Kapitbahayan and BISDAK would get together, brainstorm, act and extend a quick and direct help to our affected countrymen. The organization is recognized in the township of Spijkenisse and is involved in every Spijkenisse activities like the ‘Monumenten Dag’ and Internatinal Day of Immigrants to mention a few.

No less than our respected Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands, His Excellency Jaime Ledda , was the celebrations’ honored guest. He delivered a truly inspiring speech, thanking everyone and other organizations present for their support and motivates Kapitbahayan to continue their pursuit and not to falter.

Among the visitors were some officers of the Spijkenisse Township, BISDAK, FCCDordrecht, FCC Rotterdam and SPH.

Spicing up the celebration are dance numbers. Dancing to ‘Kiss Me Kiss Me In The Morning’ were the FCCDordrecht ladies, utterly sexy in their high schoolers attire -black collard blouses with white ties, short checkered skirts, black knee socks and white shoes. They look so cute and yet so alluring!   Stichting Kapitbahayan ladies in their red grass skirts and garlands on their hair performed a Hawaiian mix dance while Turagsoy music was the choice of the BISDAK  dancers wearing their Bisdak t-shirts.

Fund raising update : Donations and proceeds of the BISDAK “ buy for the earthquake victims” that night was directly wired to Kagawad of Dawis, Dayeth Rendon Payan. Upon receiving the amount, vital goods were bought, brought and distributed to BIR evacuation site in Dawis. Part of the donations were also given to another badly hit area in Makilala North Cotabato where food, medicine and tents were bought and distributed.

(Top photo L-R): A huge ‘thank you’ note reads “ DAGHANG SALAMAT to BISDAK and KAPITBAHAYAN of the NETHERLANDS” held up by Dayeth Rendon Payan, Kagawad of Dawis; distribution of rice; donations for Makilala, North Cotabato.

It was indeed an extraordinary Silver Anniversary celebration.  Everybody was having the best times of their lives dancing all night long with good friends and new acquaintances. Marvelous!

Simultaneously, a great number of guests heeded our appeal for a little contribution to help our earthquake victims back home. Without hesitation, donations were poured. It is so astounding!!! It goes without saying - our hearts beat as ONE!

And to this effect, we are even more gratefull for all the support and generosity of our beloved friends, guests and sponsors who joined our Kapitbahayan’s  Silver Anniversary . It shows how united we are in good times as well as in bad…that even in our little ways, we are willing to lend a hand to our countrymen in their dire times of need.

From the bottom of our hearts  --

           ---THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
