A remarkable Autumn Party by Stichting Kapitbahayan in The Netherlands

By Angel Axinto
14 November 2017
Spijkenisse, The Netherlands

Never before was there a party that I have hosted and or attended that lasted ´til the wee hours of the morning! The party, held at De Kade in Spijnkenisse, started at 7: 00 P.M. Saturday evening, November 11 and ended at past 3:00 A.M. Sunday morning!! Unbelievably unique.  Everybody was having the best times of their lives, nobody wants to go home.

The team of Stichting Kapitbayahan headed by Mherzy van der Steen and assisted by Eda Liaw Sinajon went to the extremes by having this years´ autumn party held exclusively in a Disco-bar and make it last until dawn.  Amazing how many guests enthusiastically stayed ´til Sunday morning.

The shindig was held at `De Kade´ in Spijkenisse, a new location to regular Stichiting Kapitbahayan friends and supporters. The entrance was draped with Philippine Flag and adorned with colorful balloons to make it easy for our friends and party goers to recognize. Every guest was treated with a light dinner to their choice and their orders served at their tables. Non-stop disco music was already playing the moment the guests started coming in. Instantly you know it´s going to be a great evening!

The most important ingredient of a good party is the music. It could make or break the evening. That night we have the services of the well known ` Sound Team` to make our party a memorable event. Composed of DJ Enrico Nederlof, zangeres Lena Nederlof and DJ Honders, the threesome were absolutely great.  Everybody just hit the dancefloor and move to the music.

Lovely guests started arriving from different parts of Holland. Some came with their partners equally eager to let loose and just enjoy the evening. From Amsterdam, captivating Jitty Vasquez de la Cruz of ‘ Jitty’s Hair and Make Up’ graced the occasion together with striking Ronald Pronk. A group of Romanians came to join.  At first, they were hesitant and were just observing. But when they saw the ladies swinging on the dance floor, they joined in and blended easily.  They sure know how to party like we do, wild and not a care in the world.

Spicing up the evening was a ´Statue Dance` contest. A very common game to all Filipinos but new to the Romanian guests. After explaining the simple mechanics of the game, participants started dancing. The 10 contestants were slowly reduced to 5, then 4 and finally to 3 tough contenders. The three instantly freeze the moment the music stops and no amount of giggling or destruction from the crowd can make them move. When the music starts playing they gracefully danced again yet paying very close attention to when the music stops, to which they became statues again. Astonishingly funny. After several stops, they were pronounced winners of the evenings game. The three were Vivian Santua Bulan, Zaldy Niday and the Romanian lady.

It was a party like no other. The fun was non-stop! Dancing ´til our feet could dance no more, singing our lungs out ‘til we ran out of songs and drinking like we have never drank before.  Everybody was having so much fun nobody wanted it to end. Before we knew it, it was dawn. What a very memorable Autumn Paty it was.

In behalf of Stichting Kapitbayan, I would like to express my utmost thanks to all our beautiful beloved friends, guests and all those who in one way or another joined, helped and supported us, in making this years´ Autumn Party a very unforgettable event.

This is our happening, and all together we made it extraordinarily successful.

Cheers to our next disco!!!!
