SERIES NR.2 - IMAGES OF THE PIONEERS OF THE FILIPINO COMMUNITY OF THE NETHERLANDS

By Eddie Flores
Munting Nayon News Magazine
The Netherlands
October 26, 2019

Gendringen-1966, first Berghaus group to arrive in the Netherlands, with Mirian Catalan (foreground), group’s social worker.

Munting Nayon just received a VERY SAD NEWS ….Mirian passed away October 25, 2019 in Florida-USA .
Eddie Flores, while clearing their attic of clutters,  came across a pile of old photos. Indeed old photos and turned out to be a clutter of treasures …. photos of the pioneers of the Filipino community in The Netherlands dating from 1947… and from June 1988, when Munting Nayon published its first  edition.

MN stopped its hardcopy monthly publication in 2011.

In 2007, MN posted its first digital version muntingnayon.com .

Most of the photos were taken by Eddie Flores, Editor of Munting Nayon News magazine.

Second of a series …. This compilation of MN photos were randomly selected … no timeline, no comments and no caption and posted for sharing with the community.

I spent the best 21 years of my life in the Netherlands. I raised my family there. I was assigned there as Analyst for the Philippine National Bank. I left Holland in the year 2000 as head of the European network of PNB overseas offices. Munting Nayon was the news medium I totally supported. I am quite pleased Eddie Flores is reviving it again.
